Real Estate Pathway

Kellogg's real estate pathway is designed to capture the importance and impact of real estate as an asset class in the global economy.

The curriculum is structured in two stages. In the first foundational stage you develop tools that are critical to the analysis of real estate transactions. In the second stage, which provides depth of coverage for those wanting to specialize in real estate, you learn a body of knowledge on the specific institutions of the market and the interaction of real estate markets with urban planning, development, entrepreneurship, public policy, and law.

Experiential Learning

Real Estate Venture Competition

The Real Estate Venture Competition showcases MBA students, who have the opportunity to pitch to a high-profile panel of judges. The winning team not only receives $100,000 in cash and prizes, but also the opportunity to secure as much as $10,000,000 in equity funding. The primary purpose of the competition is to encourage entrepreneurial real estate ventures. The event also serves as an opportunity to promote top student talent before prominent industry professionals.

Real Estate Lab

The Real Estate Lab is an experiential learning course offered in the Winter quarter that allows Kellogg students the opportunity to be placed in a quarter-long internship with a local or national real estate firm. Participants will be exposed to the day-to-day working life of the firm, and will assist with their asset selection, due diligence, development, financing, or investment efforts. Enrollment in the course is by application only.

MBA Case Competitions

Business schools throughout the world host case competitions and Kellogg students are invited to participate in them. These are great opportunities for Kellogg students to build their skills as real estate professionals and engage with real estate students from other business schools. Key competitions are UT Austin Real Estate Challenge and UNC Real Estate Development Challenge.
