Regalia (cap, gown, tassel) is mandatory for grads who wish to walk across the stage in the Kellogg Convocation Ceremony or participate in the Northwestern Commencement Ceremony.

Your regalia package comes with a tassel; you do not need to order one separately unless you are a dual degree graduate. If you are graduating with two degrees from two different schools, please be sure to also purchase the second school’s tassel. Additional tassels can be ordered from the Accessories page during the ordering process.
Let us know if you have additional questions. This link will connect you with the NU Graduation team for answers regarding regalia ordering only.

    HOW TO WEAR YOUR REGALIA

    • Check out the video for a step-by-step.
    • Put on your gown and make sure it's zipped all the way up.
    • Allow the extra fabric to hang loosely at the end of the sleeves.
    • Putting on the hood, drape it over your head and make sure the strap is in the front where you can secure it to a button, or let it stay loose.
    • On the backside, have a friend or family member help you flip out the fabric so that the shiny material is showing.
    • Grab the loop across and tie it onto the button, securing it from falling.
    • For the cap, there is an indication of the front side inside.
    • With the tassel, you will want to make sure it remains on the left side. It will not be moved to the right.
    • You are now ready to walk across the stage!
