Activities

The PE Club offers numerous activities and events throughout the year with the dual objectives of (1) educating students on industry fundamentals and (2) preparing them for the interview process and their post-Kellogg roles. Representative events include:

Private Equity & Venture Capital Conference

One of the highlights of the year is the student-led Private Equity & Venture Capital Conference which brings together industry professionals, alumni, students and Kellogg faculty for a day of panel and small group breakout sessions focused on the state of the industry and some of its most relevant issues.

Visit the Kellogg PEVC Conference webpage for more information.

Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Conference

Each year Kellogg and Booth co-host the Chicago Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Conference. The event includes interviews, panels and breakout sessions with leading investors, operators and searchers discussing relevant topics, trends and developments in this increasingly growing segment of private equity.

Visit the Chicago ETA Conference webpage for more information.

Experiential Learning

Through Private Equity Lab, Kellogg students gain class credit while taking the concepts they have learned in the classroom and applying them in practice at participating firms in the Chicago area and remote locations. This application-based course exposes students to the day-to-day life of the firm, including deal selection, due diligence, and other investment efforts.

For more information about experiential learning courses and programs, please visit Kellogg's Heizer Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital.

Career Treks

Each year, a select set of Kellogg students organize and participate in one to three day treks. In the past, treks have visited multiple firms in Boston, Chicago, New York and San Francisco. These educational trips provide students with unique opportunities to meet with investment professionals, including Kellogg alumni, and learn about firms' strategies, cultures, and investment approaches.

Applications to lead or participate in each trek begin early in the fall quarter and treks typically take place throughout the fall and early winter quarters.

Competitions

Kellogg students have the opportunity to compete in multiple competitions throughout the academic year to simulate the work of private equity professionals and put into practice their skills of deal evaluation.

Dinner Series

An opportunity for select students interested in pursuing careers in private equity post-Kellogg to meet and interact with industry professionals and alumni in an intimate setting.

Interview Preparation

The PE Club offers students support as they transition through the recruiting lifecycle providing mentorship, coaching, and informational resources early on and mock interviews, LBO modelling prep, and interview prep groups as the recruiting process ramps up.
