The Kellogg LDSSA Spring Closing Social celebrated the soon to be graduates and spouses at Lighthouse Beach park by catering Chipotle and handing out special certificate awards.

May 20-22, 2016
Each year, the Kellogg LDSSA visits Nauvoo in the Spring to embrace our LDS roots. The trip was filled with experiences both fun (game nights, Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo show, Bonfire by the Mississippi) and uplifting  (visiting historic church sites - Carthage/Trail of Hope, sessions at the Nauvoo temple).

May 11, 2016
The annual Kellogg LDSSA Golf Tournament was held at the Robert A. Black Golf Course in Chicago. A golf scramble was played to ease some of the intense pressure. Ultimately, Jeremy W, Eric Komendez, Mike T, and Rusty G proved to have ice-water for blood and ended with 2 strokes below par. They dedicated their win to Tyler H Classic D-Mo, Bo G, and Rob R.

The Kellogg LDSSA student population is currently comprised of all men, but it is the beautiful, hard-working, smart, and strong wives who make the MBA experience possible. As such, they deserve much recognition and a special treat to themselves. This year the Kellogg LDSSA JV Women went to downtown Chicago and spent the night - word on the street is that they stayed up until 4AM socializing. The women enjoyed dinning at chic restaurants, shopping, relaxing by the rooftop pool, and biking the city.

April 22-23, 2016
11 out of 12 Kellogg LDSSA members were able to attend the Annual LDSSA MBA Conference this year in Boston at HBS - D-Mo was excused from attending as the due date of his baby girl landed on the dates of the event. The conference was the biggest turnout to date, with ~150 LDSSA MBA students both domestic and international in attendance. The exciting news post the event was that Kellogg was selected to host next year's LDSSA MBA Conference in Spring 2017. Also, while the men attended the conference, some of the LDSSA wives performed in Kellogg's annual Bollywood event with the kids.

April 3, 2016
Potlucks at the McMansion have become a monthly occurrence within Kellogg LDSSA. What was so special about this particular occurrence is that we managed to get a picture of ALL 48 Kellogg LDSSA members together in one shot - the kids were scampering around the lobby seconds after the picture.

March 5, 2016
The Winter Closing Social was held at Top Golf. Everyone was working on their game in preparation for the annual Kellogg LDSSA Golf Tournament (see epic golf form below).

February 25, 2016
We had a great event today with Dr. Jennifer Finlayson-Fife, a member of our local ward, visiting Kellogg to speak about nurturing relationships amidst a busy career. We had ~100 people in attendance. If you would like to learn more about Dr. Finlayson-Fife's therapy practice, please visit her website.

Running with the Bulls is a fun annual tradition where Kellogg and Booth battle it out on the basketball court at the United Center prior to a Bulls game. Kellogg's basketball team was victorious and the Bulls pulled out a "W" as well. Following the game, Kellogg and Booth LDSSA set rivalry aside and got together at Shake Shack in downtown Chicago.

December 5, 2015
Dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings (BWW) is becoming a rich tradition within Kellogg LDSSA. Below is a snapshot of the guys at BWW during the Big 10 championship game between Michigan State & Iowa.

November 21, 2015
Chicago blizzards decided to arrive early this year and dump on the Kellogg LDSSA Fall Closing Social trip to Top Golf. Fortunately, the guys found a suitable alternative activity, bowling at Kings, and upped the ante by agreeing to the player with the lowest score being subject to a firing squad of snowballs. Fortunately for Mike T, we all have terrible aim and missed from 10 feet away.

October 23, 2015
Each year the LDSSA hosts a "The Book of Mormon Explained by Mormons" event and this year's was a great success. With a large and diverse turnout, we had the privilege of sharing our doctrinal beliefs, lifestyle choices, as well as the Church's humanitarian efforts. Afterwards, a panel of our members we able to answer questions from the audience. It was a positive experience and we are grateful to those who came and let us share beliefs and principles that we hold so dear to us.

Fall is upon us and so is apple season. The Kellogg LDSSA headed up to Apple Holler in Wisconsin to participate in a fall family tradition at the apple orchard. Families participated in all things apple - picking apples, eating apple cider doughnuts, climbing apple trees just for fun - and enjoyed the corn maze and legendary pig races. Dave Morris Appleseed picked a whole two bushels of apples and has a picture to prove it...see below for your self.

February 23, 2015

The LDDSA traveled to the United Center to watch the mighty Kellogg basketball team take on their rivals from the "south" in the annual Running with the Bulls basketball game between Kellogg and Booth. It was a battle from start to finish, with Kellogg coming away victorious as the final horn blew. Prior to the game, the LDSSA dined at bopNgrill, a fun Korean burger joint featured in “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”. While the kimchi fries fell flat, the burgers were a big hit! The night was punctuated with a little post-game networking between the Kellogg and Booth LDSSAs at Shake Shack. Everyone had a fantastic time and is eager for next year’s game!

February 19, 2015

The women of the LDSSA got a much deserved “ladies night out” in downtown Chicago at the swanky RPM Italian Restaurant. They thoroughly enjoyed the immaculately prepared and delicious cuisine. While all the food was amazing, the brussel sprout salad and mushroom stuffed raviolis got the most glowing reviews.

November 11, 2014

Despite blustering winds and temperatures in the high 20’s, the LDSSA enjoyed an evening together at TopGolf. Everyone had a blast and memories were definitely made. Thanks to everyone for coming out to the event and a big thank you to the LDSSA wives for watching the kids!

October 24, 2014

For the second year in a row our event "The Book of Mormon As Explained by Mormons" was a smashing success! During the event the LDSSA shared basic beliefs of the Mormon faith as well as held a Q&A session for students and faculty in attendance. Thank you again to all of the students and faculty for attending the event and for your thoughtful questions. Should anyone have questions regarding this event or our beliefs, please feel free to contact us

The entire Kellogg LDSSA enjoyed a warm Saturday in Wisconsin at Apple Holler. The kids thoroughly loved the pony rides, pig races, and giant slide while the adults enjoyed snacking on apple cider donuts. Everyone savored the fresh country air and enjoyed having a family day away from the demands of school.

September 20, 2014

Kellogg LDSSA alumni converged on Utah for a reunion on September 19-20, 2014. One of the alumni graciously hosted the group at his cabin in Sundance where the party bar-b-qued for dinner, ate breakfast at the Sundance restaurant, hiked around the valley, shared stories, and caught up with each other. The event was capped with attending the BYU vs. Virginia game in Provo, Utah. Not all of the Kellogg alumni present were alumni of BYU as undergrads but everyone displayed good sportsmanship during the game (even the Virginia alum). The alumni are now already planning next year's event

May 26, 2014

This Memorial Day Weekend all of the members of the LDSSA traveled to Nauvoo for our annual trip. This year we added one additional night in Springfield, Illinois, where we visited Lincoln's home, tomb, and museum. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed themselves. The kids especially loved running through the grassy fields of Nauvoo.

April 13, 2014

Dean Blount invited members of the LDSSA and other faith-based groups to dinner where she spoke on the importance of faith and values in her career. She spoke about her faith and then held a Q&A session. Members of the LDSSA especially enjoyed the desserts!

April 12, 2014

The Kellogg LDSSA hosted the 2014 LDS MBA Conference this weekend at Kellogg's downtown campus. Students from 20 schools came to Kellogg to listen to keynote speakers and panelists about faith and leadership. Some of the schools represented included Columbia, University of Michigan, Harvard, Wharton, and of course Booth. Students from the IE Business School in Spain and HEC in France were also in attendance. Our keynote speakers consisted of:

  • Gary Crittenden, former CFO of American Express and managing partner at HGGC
  • Whitney Johnson, Co-Founder and former president of Rose Park Advisors
  • Dave Ulrich, Professor at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business

Interestingly enough our venues for the conference proved to be movie worthy. Gary Crittenden's keynote was held in the Northwestern Law School's Lincoln Hall where Legally Blond was filmed. Saturday night's banquet was held in the ballroom of the Wyndham Grand Riverfront, the same location used to film Bruce Wayne's fundraiser for Harvey Dent in the Dark Knight.

Read more in this Deseret News article about the conference.

We are looking forward to meeting the newly admitted LDS students in a few weeks at DAK. We are planning a lunch on Sunday, Feb 9th at the home of Mike and Leanne Miner to get to know you all better. We know that this is an exciting time for you and your families!

October 25, 2013

It was standing room only at our event "The Book of Mormon As Explained by Mormons". Thank you to all of the students who attended and for your thoughtful questions. During this event the basic beliefs of the Mormon faith were presented by members of the LDSSA. Members of the LDSSA also shared their experiences as missionaries and explained the lifestyle choices of adherents to the LDS faith. Should anyone have questions regarding this event or topic, please feel free to contact us.

Whoa, it has been a long time since we have had any "news". We are about to change that and get more active.

Today's update is that we are in Nauvoo on our annual end of the year trip. We had a great time attending the temple, seeing the missionaries perform a musical, and touring all of the historical sites. The kids especially enjoyed the wagon we found.
