KELLOGG/NORTHWESTERN COMMUNITY
KSA Update:
Monday: Sign-ups OPEN for Dinner with Strangers: Sign ups are now LIVE for Dinner with Strangers (Fri. 10/16), brought to you by Klick and KSA. Dinner with Strangers is a chance to connect with more of the Kellogg community through small group dinners of random individuals spanning Kellogg programs, including 2Ys, JD/MBAs, MMMs, 1Ys, and JVs. These dinners will take place at one participant’s home - pot-luck or catered - at the participants’ expense, with a maximum spend of $25 per person. Registration Open Until Fri. 10/09, 8PM
Tuesday: Ski and Snowboard Club host a (S)No Pants Party @ 27Live: Things are heating up for the Ski and Snowboard Club, fresh off the plane from their latest Park City walk-through, as they work tirelessly to make sure this year’s Ski Trip is one you will never forget. Welcoming its newest committee members to the planning team, the Ski and Snowboard Club invites everyone to 27Live dressed to the nines in your best ski bunny outfit!! Dust off those snow pants, clean off those goggles, and be prepared to sweat it out beginning at 10pm at 27Live.
Friday: Ski TG at 5pm: Watch the atrium transform before your eyes into a winter wonderland! Picture yourself on a snowcapped mountain taking your last run of the day with Après-Ski waiting below – just kidding you’re still in the Jake! The Ski and Snowboard Club brings the mountain to you with Ski Club TG this Friday. It’s no Park City Live, but it will do.
Running a Business at Kellogg? Apply to KEO, Kellogg's Incubator!
Business school is full of distractions, and entrepreneurship requires focus. If you are a current entrepreneur looking to launch, grow, or optimize your business, consider applying to the Kellogg Entrepreneur’s Organization (KEO).
KEO exists to provide support, mentorship and resources to active entrepreneurs within the Kellogg community. We typically accept a class of 15-20 entrepreneurs – both students and JVs are welcome to apply. Members of KEO are divided into “pods” that serve as their personal board of directors for the semester. Meetings alternate between pod and group meetings.
Apply Here! Apps due by Tuesday October 6 at 11:59PM CT.
KEO Personal Board of Directors: Each member of KEO will be assigned to a 4-5 person personal board of directors to help them with their specific business needs or personal entrepreneurial growth goals. These small groups are designed to create a strong support system for each entrepreneur. Pod meetings are fully confidential and designed to troubleshoot tough problems and foster personal growth in a protected environment.
-
Monthly Meetings: Monthly meetings will feature thematic presentations by top Kellogg faculty. Themes include pitching, leadership coaching, and war stories which will sync with the agendas for the pod meetings.
-
Commitment requirement. Because KEO is a small group that depends on the full participation of all members, students are allowed only two excused absences per semester.
Why join KEO?
KEO members have instant access to all of Kellogg’s entrepreneurship-related resources, and a built-in support system to keep them pushing forward during what is, for most of us, the busiest time of our lives. The proof is in the pudding: Last year, every KEO business that applied to NUVC (Northwestern’s largest venture competition) was accepted to the finals, and 3 of those businesses won a combined $50,000 in cash. We get you the support you need not only to conceptualize your business, but also to find the resources (financial and otherwise) that you need to grow.
Get Involved in Clubs:
Kellogg Wilderness Club: They need a few extra hands to help us organizing trips/events! If you'd like to get involved in KWC committees this year, please send James an e-mail @ jtong2016@kellogg.northwestern.edu by this Friday (10/09/15). First year, second year, third year JDMBA, and JVs are all welcome!
Kellogg Cares: Club Collaboration Director Position Available - Application due October 10th by 12 PM - They are still looking to fill one more director position. This individual would be responsible for cross-club collaboration, encouraging and helping to develop co-sponsored volunteer and community engagement events with various clubs at Kellogg! 1Ys, 1st Years and JVs are all welcome to apply. Application can be found here.
Kellogg Automotive Club: 1st Year Director Position -The Automotive Club has ~100 members now! They just co-sponsored the Cadillac CMO event and set up coffee chats for Nissan. They are going to get Ford, GM and Cummins too! These are exciting times to lead the Automotive Club! Are you passionate enough to answer the call?
If yes, please email your answers to Nidheesh Patel on following questions:
1. Why would you like to join the Automotive Club?
2. What plans or ideas do you have to make the Automotive Club even more successful?
3. What other commitments do you plan to take this year? We don't judge, just asking :)
Kellogg Chicago Club: 1st Year Director Position - They are looking for 1st Year Directors to help with event planning and club marketing. If you have ideas for the Chicago Club or would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you! Contact David Ufford to get started.
Anoucement from Kellogg EATZ Club:
Save the Date: Inaugural Eatz Fancy Dinner Series: TWO Restaurant & Bar (register here) Join EATZ for our inaugural Fancy Dinner and nom on a 6-course, farm/fisher/forager/butcher-to-table tasting menu with some of your Kellogg friends! This Fancy-ful meal will be worthy of both Drake and Iggy Izalea’s lyrics, especially considering the chefs make everything in house, from lamb bacon, homemade sausage and cheese to their own bacon jam, pork fries and pickles. Chicago Tribune, “Check, Please,” Town & Country and even Runner’s World (?) agree that TWO is a must-eat in Chicago. So do 484 people on Yelp. Don’t miss out, tickets go on sale on Tuesday at 12:15pm sharp! Let Ron Chan if you have any questions or want to roll down together.
NOMS ABOUT TOWN: Pumpkin-flavored everything - Feeling overwhelmed by how hard pumpkin flavors are going in the paint this fall? Don’t know which pumpkin items to supermarket sweep into your cart at Trader Joe’s? Here’s a handy guide for the basic in you. If you’re a purist pumpkin spice latte fangirl, fret not; Starbucks has a home for you as well.
