GEN 2022 - 2023 Events Calendar

Manbassador Challenge (Fall / Winter)
Kellogg's Manbassador Challenge is a series of empathy-building exercises that shed light on different aspects of life as a woman that you may or may not have had to consider to date. It was adapted from the Feminist Challenge, a year-long competition launched by Lydia Marik in 2017. Ultimately, our hope is that these challenges can help educate and empower men to be better allies, wherever you are on your allyship journey. Again, please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any question. This is meant to be a space of growth and learning – not embarrassment. Any conversation you have with us will be confidential.

This year, our Manbassador Challenge yielded over 170 male-identifying participants across 25+ challenges with a focus on topics such as Gender Inequality in the Workplace, Romance & Relationships, Reproductive Rights, Domestic Equity, Men's Mental Health, and Gender-based Violence.

GEN Small Group Dinner Series (Quarterly)
Our quarterly Small Group Dinner series focuses on themed discussions with members of the Kellogg community. Dinners are hosted by GEN Exec members and previous SGD participants, each event is primed with selected pre-read content including articles and podcasts. In the Fall, we focused our discussions on Gender in the Workplace, while the Winter dinners touched on Online Misogyny and Toxic Masculinity.

EVC x WBA x GEN: Women Founders & Investors/VC Panel (Feb. 7th, 2023)
A collaborative event with EVC and WBA to host female founders and investors to highlight the challenges facing women in the industry today and a fireside chat for men and women looking to support the growing female founder and investor community.

Language Matters Workshop (Feb. 28th, 2023)
A workshop co-hosted with GEN, P@K and the WBA to welcome in representations from Northwestern's Women Center to lead a discussion covering the different ways gender bias shows up in our everyday language. The event covers the importance of recognizing and affirming gender identities of colleagues, classmates, and others, the prevalence of commonplace sexist language and the many ways it may intersect with ableist, racist or otherwise offensive ways of speaking, and an opportunity to practice inclusive language tactics.

GEN Book Club (Spring)
An opportunity to continue your allyship journey as we look to engage all genders in discussions about gender-related issues. This year's book club will focus on The Power by Naomi Alderman and will include discussions to take place during weeks 3 and 4 of the spring quarter to discuss the book and related topics.
