Join us for a moderated discussion with Cinnamon Williams, a PhD student in the NU Dept of African-American Studies. We'll explore the origins of Black Feminism, the implications of feminism on pop culture, and what Beyonce's music and her status as an icon can teach us about our own feminisms.

The discussion will be moderated by Farzain Rahman (2Y, 2023) and is co-sponsored by M&E, BMA, and WBA as part of Media & Entertainment Week and Black History Month at Kellogg. Lunch from 10Q will be provided!

What is Black History Month?
"Black History Month shouldn't be treated as though it is somehow separate from our collective American history or somehow just boiled down to a compilation of greatest hits from the March on Washington or from some of our sports heroes. . . It's about the lived, shared experience of all African Americans, high and low, famous and obscure, and how those experiences have shaped and challenged and ultimately strengthened America." - President Barack Obama
What are we here to do?
As a leading institution, Kellogg is in the business of developing the world's next great leaders. Leadership is a word casually tossed around; idealized in theory but messy in practice. Despite its complications, at Kellogg, we understand that leadership is essential to effect change and make long-lasting impact beyond ourselves that transforms our communities and the world at large. This Black History Month, we want to position Kellogg at the center of conversations that illuminate the difficult but rewarding path of leadership by highlighting the efforts of Black leaders past and present
