1871 Tour: Intro the Chicago Startup Community

Friday, November 1 at 6:00 - 8:30 PM at 222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza #1212 

1871 is the hub for Chicago's Startup Community. A co-working space, community, and educational center, 1871 brings together Chicago’s brightest digital designers, engineers and entrepreneurs. Come find out how you can leverage 1871's resources as a Kellogg student entrepreneur. Hear from the E-Club's panel of VCs and entrepreneurs, get a tour of the facility, and meet like-minded students at our cocktail hour (wine and appetizers included). We will then head to a pub in the area for some grub and drink. We will take the 'L' downtown (it stops right at 1871) and will meet at the Davis platform at ~5pm.

Internships

Pymetrics (during the school year)

HBS / MIT startup pymetrics (www.pymetrics.com) is applying neuroscience assessment + data science to the world of career search. We replace questionnaires with neuroscience tasks + statistics with data science to ideally match students with jobs + companies. It is currently used by undergraduates + MBA students, and consulting, finance + technology clients, across the US. We recently raised $2.5M from Khosla Ventures. We are looking for rock star interns to help us out with MBA data collection. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing social media postings regarding the assessment instrument
  • Email campaigns to potential MBA test takers
  • Liaising with on-campus clubs to build awareness about the assessment
