PMGCers, Welcome back from Spring Break. As we mentioned last newsletter, PMGC has a full slate of events this quarter, including a trip to DC. Learn more below Club Initiatives PMGC Careers INTERNSHIPS – UNITED NATIONS WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME AND BUREAU OF OCEAN ENERGY MANAGEMENT One of the key functions of PMGC is to act on your behalf to attract recruiters from top quality organizations within the public management sector to Kellogg. Last quarter, we announced the internships and full time opportunities at the Word Food Programme. To clarify: even though WFP application form mentions an internship duration of 5-10 months, the WFP is also willing to shorten the internship duration to 3 months (ie. the summer internship period) for those interested. The WFP is still accepting applications, click here to apply. Additionally, a recent Kellogg Alum informed the group of a strategic planning and marketing internship at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. He also sublty indicated the opportunity may include one or two trips to Hawaii. To learn more and apply, click here. Flight Info Arive IAD 2nd Year Course Advice- Kevin Poff In each newsletter of the Spring quarter, our outgoing 2nd year club officers will be providing some personal advice on PMGC-related courses at Kellogg. I will kick off the series with the most common note you’ll get from this club: take Besanko’s class (Public Economics for Business Leaders I: National Policy). For those who haven’t taken it yet, you’ve probably heard this before but the course (and, specifically, the professor) is something you must experience before you graduate. It’s a course on crucial public policy decisions in the US and around the world steeped in core economic principles. Public policy at its purest! In addition, I would advise you to take International Strategy in Non-Market Environments (I took it with Professor Ben Jones and loved it). The class counts as your global requirement but, even if you did GIM, the class offers a very actionable and insightful view of how to strategically operating in emerging markets. The non-market factors that are prevalent in emerging markets present problems, and opportunities, so do your company the favor of rounding out your strategic perspective with this course.
