Subject: BMA Inside: The festive season is upon us

THE FESTIVE SEASON IS HERE!

Welcome to the November edition of the BMA newsletter.

I would like to start off strong with a quote that really resonated with me at BMAC a few weeks ago. It goes like this "The status quo is linear but the world is not linear"- Peter Anthony Jackson.

Peter is an entrepreneur who spoke on the "creating your own table" panel. This particular quote resonated because I came into Kellogg with a particular mindset of what I wanted to do with my career without realizing the limitations I was placing on myself. I went home pondering on that quote and it suddely seemed like a new world of possibilities had opened infront of me.

Why am I sharing this? As a food for thought and to remind us to think outside the status quo and redefine it even. It is not limited to starting your own business but in every aspect of life.

Pick up a new hobby, learn a new skill, talk to someone new, try a new dish, do something outside of your comfort zone.

Since we are here, BMAC was a success and I will encourage everyone to attend next year. It was a safe space for insightful discussions, networking, thought provoking questions and did I say full sized swag from THE NARS!! We love to see it.

The EW BMA squad showed out (PS the picture is missing Victoria Alao and Bena Amponsah)

L-R: Arianna Giddings, Dominique Howard, Zack Bird, Denmark (Denny) Reed, Benita Mordi, Bez Alemu

In the Community

We had a successful BMA retreat last month and alot of members were represented.

WE LOVE TO SEE IT!!

The theme was around refreshing the EW BMA and with that in mind, we brain stormed on what we will like to see in the future as a group. The conversation was centered around:
1) Alumni relations
2) Creating BMA families within the EW community (in process)
3) Shared resources like the Pass/No Credit FAQ, Kellogg Resume and Cover Letter Template, and several more. The retreat deck will be shared via slack and email for all to save the useful information presented.
4) Affordable meal prep resource

Mentorship Insight

I got some insight from Perry of Alumi relations who informed me of KAMP (Kellogg Alumni Mentorship Program).

It is an opportunity to get matched up with an alumni who is able to provide leadership mentorship, entrepreneurship coaching, career advise, etc.

The mentorship is at your own pace.
