Groupwerk Community Workshop: Tap

Ever watched Groupwerk perform and thought, “I wish I could do that”? Now you can!

Workshop #1: Tap with David Buzzell! We’re kicking off the Groupwerk Community Workshop Series with TAP — led by the incredibly talented David Buzzell! As a drummer with the Kellogg bands and a Groupwerk dancer, David brings an unmatched sense of timing, energy, and joy to everything he does. Tap is one of the most iconic dance styles in the United States, with deep roots in African American performance traditions and a rich cultural history spanning vaudeville, Broadway, and jazz. In this beginner-friendly session, you’ll learn the foundational steps, explore basic rhythms, and start creating sound with your own movement. Importantly, you do NOT need tap shoes. We would recommend wearing sneakers, or any shoes that make sound on the floor. No tap experience is required, this workshop will assume you have never tapped before! Come as you are, and reach out to David with any questions.

Note: If you do have tap experience, we hope this will be a fun experience for you to reconnect with tap, don't let the beginner level shy you away!

Groupwerk — Kellogg’s dance crew — is launching a brand-new Community Workshop Series designed to bring dance to all of Kellogg. Select Groupwerk members are teaching the basics across four different dance styles. The series is open to absolute beginners, and open to anybody at Kellogg! These will be in a supportive, zero-pressure environment. Whether you’ve never danced before or just want to revisit the basics, this is your chance to step into the world dance with Groupwerk!
