3. Doing the Chicago Cha Cha! | Workshop | All Come to this training workshop to partner with an organization that teams businesses with charities in a competition to raise money, volunteer time, and employee giving in fun, innovative ways. Winning teams earn cash awards (and bragging rights). Change the face of philanthropy with Chicago ChaCha! So far the teams have raised over $3.85M and 14,835 volunteer hours with 19 teams, including AbelsonTaylor & La Rabida Children’s Hospital, Chicago Fire & Chicago Fire Foundation, and Groupon & Cure Violence. The very cool founders, Terri and Craig Foster--plus representatives from the Starbucks & Concordia Place Team and Marissa Pines, Kellogg’11 and Quaker Team Captain--will be presenting at the Workshop. National Parks Business Plan Internship Webinar | Info Session | All Are you interested in building marketable skills and enhancing the lives of countless Americans while working in one of the most beautiful places in the world? Join us for a webinar to learn more about the National Parks Business Plan Internship. The internship is an 11-week, paid, summer program for graduate students dedicated to applying their skills and experience to effect lasting change in America’s national parks. Teams of consultants are assigned to national park sites across the country where they work directly with park or program management to lead strategic projects that impact the long-term financial and operational health of these vital American resources. 5. Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge | Info Session | All How can finance help solve global challenges? The Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge is a pitch competition that asks graduate students to develop an institutional-quality investment vehicle that aims to achieve positive environmental or social impact as well as competitive financial returns. Finalists will be flown to Morgan Stanley’s offices in London on April 17, 2015, where they will pitch their idea to a panel of judges comprised of recognized leaders in the sustainable investing arena. $15,000 of total prize money will be awarded. Come learn about this competition, which was founded by Kellogg and has been won by a Kellogg team for the last 2 years. Lunch will be served. MBAs Across America | Info Session | All Escape the confines of the cubicle this summer and hit the open road with three of your classmates on a once-in-a-lifetime journey of impact across the US to work alongside, learn from, and support entrepreneurs who are building businesses that make their communities better. GIM Social Impact Registration for Winter Quarter! Learn first-hand how to create businesses that impact society and the environment. Trip to Nicaragua during Spring Break. Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) Social Impact is a course designed to provide students with a broad introduction to the unique opportunities and challenges of designing business models – either for-profit or non-profit – that create positive societal or environmental impact. During the course, students will gain broad exposure to a variety of organizations around the world that have deliberately designed their organization for social impact and will analyze how and where financial return is compatible with social return. In addition, students will have the opportunity to look in-depth at the social challenges and market opportunities in one country; Nicaragua. Students will form teams to research an industry sector in Nicaragua and develop a business proposal intended to create positive social impact in their sector. Students will travel to Nicaragua during spring break in March to conduct field research and interviews and meet leading social impact organizations. 6. D-Prize: Distribution Equals Development | Social Entrepreneurship Poverty Solutions D-Prize is seeking new social entrepreneurs who can solve our planet's most pressing problems. We believe society has already created effective technologies to eradicate poverty – but those proven solutions have yet to be distributed to millions in need. We will award up to $20,000 to anyone who can start a social venture that solves this problem. We are especially excited to fund first-time entrepreneurs from Northwestern. Our support also includes mentorship from leading social entrepreneurs like Kiva President Premal Shah and One Acre Fund founder Andrew Youn. Proposals are due by December 30. 7. Chobani | Summer Internship Deadline After moving to New York from his native Turkey, Chobani’s founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya found that in America, yogurt just wasn’t as delicious and widely available as it was back home. Help develop and executive innovative social impact initiatives that highlight Chobani’s corporate values and food philosophy.. These projects may include branded content partnerships, experiential marketing, and local events. They will aim to educate and communicate to consumers about the importance of making good food more accessible, and the value of nutrition and entrepreneurship. This internship will be an opportunity to work with senior management at Chobani and help shape entrepreneurial initiatives that elevate the brand.
