Pamela Herbst

Pamela Herbst

Ms. Herbst is a Managing Director at AEW and Head of the Direct Investment Group. As the Head of AEW's Direct Investment Group, she is responsible for all of the firm's investment activities on behalf of core and value-added clients. In this capacity, Ms. Herbst oversees the investment activity of approximately $27.0 billion of gross assets (as of June 30, 2017) invested in nearly all property types including new investment transactions totaling approximately $2 billion/year. She is also a member of the firm's Management Committee, Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. Over her 30+ year career with AEW, Ms. Herbst has served in a variety of roles that have encompassed asset management, portfolio management and acquisitions. In addition to holding a number of industry certifications, she is former Chair and Board member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM), past Treasurer of the Executive Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks (NAIOP), an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where she has served as a Trustee, a member on the Awards for Excellence Committee, a council chair, and ULI's Investment Committee. Ms. Herbst also served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Real Estate Committee for The Home for Little Wanderers, the oldest family service organization in the U.S., and she is currently an active Board member for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. Ms. Herbst is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (B.A.) and Boston University (M.B.A.).Ms. Herbst is a Managing Director at AEW and Head of the Direct Investment Group. Korhonen

Esko Korhonen

Founder and Managing Partner • Federal Capital Partners

Esko Korhonen has company responsibilities in commercial investment, capital markets and fund raising. He has more than 33 years of experience in real estate investment and development and serves on the Investment and Executive Committees for Federal Capital Partners (FCP).

Prior to founding FCP, Mr. Korhonen was a Principal of The Carlyle Group where he served on the company's real estate fund's Investment Committee. Before joining Carlyle, Mr. Korhonen was Vice President of ING Group, where he was responsible for ING's North American real estate portfolio. He began his real estate career with the Trammell Crow Company. Mr. Korhonen has served on the Board of Directors of Tower Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE-TOW), the Board of Trustees of The Maret School in Washington, DC, Founding Member and Advisor for Fair Chance Fund, and currently is Co-Chair of The Northwestern University Leadership Council, Washington, DC, Regional Board Member of the Northwestern University Campaign Committee and a Trustee of the MD-DC chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Mr. Korhonen is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association, Urban Land Institute and District of Columbia Building Industry Association. He received his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University and BA from Colgate University.

Barry Malkin

Barry Malkin

Senior Managing Director • GEM Realty Capital

Mr. Malkin co-founded GEM in 1994 and serves on the Investment Committee. Mr. Malkin is the Chief Investment Officer of GEM Realty Properties and oversees all investment activities, including acquisitions and portfolio management, business development, and operations. Since 1994, he has directed all GEM Realty Properties investments, representing a total investment cost of over $6 billion. Mr. Malkin is also involved in risk management for GEM Realty Securities. As a member of the Investment Committee, Mr. Malkin is involved in setting investment strategy for GEM Realty Properties and GEM Realty Securities. In addition, Mr. Malkin is actively involved in formulating and implementing GEM's corporate strategy.

Prior to Blue Vista, Laurie was Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at Strategic Capital Partners, the managing member of a discretionary fund with approximately $750 million in assets. Prior to that, Laurie spent eight years at GE Commercial Finance Real Estate in Chicago, where she held several positions including Region Manager and Senior Relationship Manager in the North American Equity Holdings group and was responsible for sourcing over $1 billion in Middle Market equity deals from joint venture relationships. Prior to GE, Laurie held senior positions at Julian Toft & Downey and was the Branch Manager for the Chicago office of General American Life Insurance (now part of MetLife).

Prior to GEM, Mr. Malkin was a vice president of JMB Realty Corporation. At JMB, Mr. Malkin was intimately involved with projects including the initial public offering of Urban Shopping Centers, Inc. and the sale of JMB's institutional advisory business. From 1990 through 1992, Mr. Malkin was a vice president at JMB International in London in the restructuring group. From 1984 through 1986, Mr. Malkin worked in the corporate finance department of Kidder, Peabody & Co. as an analyst specializing in real estate finance. Currently, Mr. Malkin serves on the Board of Trustees for Tulane University and is a Board Member of the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University. Mr. Malkin received a Masters of Management from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, in 1988 and a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 1984.
