Details

His Royal Highness Muhammad Sanusi II started out as an investment banker and had an outstanding career, rising through the ranks to head one of the largest banks in Africa. Sanusi was subsequently selected to head the Central Bank of Nigeria at the height of the financial crisis. He brought financial rigor and robustness with his reforms – bailed out failing banks and put in place governance guardrails to restore confidence. Sanusi earned the Financial Times Banker's magazine Central Banker of the year award and was named in TIME magazine's 100 most influential people list. He was fired from his role by the former president of Nigeria after exposing irregular practices in the oil industry. He was then appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for Blackstone's Africa fund.
Crowned Emir Muhammad Sanusi II of Kano in 2014 after the passing of his great uncle – the previous Emir, His Highness is the 57th ruler of Kano in a line stretching back to 999A.D. E (the Kingdom has changed hands between several powerful groups in that time, it became an emirate in 1805 until British conquest in 1905). Emir Sanusi II has continued to use his position to advocate for women's rights and improved access to education especially for girls.
This event is co-sponsored by the African Business Club (ABC).

Lunch will be provided for the first 100 participants to check in.
