Interested in an analytics-focused internship? Unsure what skills or responsibilities your internship will entail? Not sure of the opportunities out there? Just curious about what analytics means at different companies? BD+A's Analytics Internship Panel will help answer these questions and more. We have 2nd year Kellogg students from Apple, Deloitte, Nike, and Starbucks joining us to chat about their analytics-enabled internships, the skills they developed over the summer, and their perspectives on how the companies that they worked for approached data and analytics in general.

Managing Analytics Talent
Professor Eric Leininger will lead a lunch-'n-learn on the crucial skill for any business leader of managing analytics talent. Prof. Eric Leininger joined the Kellogg School faculty full time in September, 2010, coming from McDonald's Corporation, where he was corporate senior vice president since 2004. Prof. Leininger was a member of McDonald's Senior Leadership Team, comprised of the business unit leaders and the global, C-suite functional leaders. His primary responsibility was consumer and business insights; additionally, he was the executive sponsor for McDonald's marketing training. Leading companies draw on Eric's expertise in building leading-edge consumer insights and marketing capabilities. Recent consulting assignments include Abbvie, Kimberly-Clark, Mattel, Merck Consumer Care, Novartis, Ulta, and U.S.Cellular.

John Schroeder is the co-founder and CEO of MapR, one of the big names of the Big Data revolution and a key provider and enabler of many of its biggest success stories. Competition: Predicting Product Purchase
Many factors contribute to a consumer’s decision to purchase a product: from perceived value to convenience to suitability of the product. The Seeker desires an algorithm to predict whether, after being presented with the cost, a customer will purchase a product, A large database of over 600,000 transactions and 72 independent variables is provided to train your algorithm. Real-time online algorithm scoring and leaderboard will be available for this Challenge.
This is a Reduction-to-Practice Challenge that requires submission of algorithm output for scoring, a written proposal, and a detailed description of the proposed algorithm. APPLY

MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference
The conference goal is to provide a forum for industry professionals (executives and leading researchers) and students to discuss the increasing role of analytics in the global sports industry.
