Join the Big Data and Analytics and Operations Management Clubs as they host senior leaders on the Qualtrics Operations Team, who will walk us through some of the major operational challenges that they've faced and how funding from Sequoia, Accell and Insight Venture Partners helped us overcome them. The team will also be discussing applications of their technology and the impact that it has had on customer experiences within client organizations.

Allstate University Prediction Challenge

Do you have what it takes to show off your data science skills? Do you want to win some awesome prizes? Allstate is excited to sponsor the first-ever predictive modeling hackathon competition between students at Northwestern University and The University of Chicago!
 
The competition will run from Monday, April 11 through Sunday, April 24, with the winners announced at an awards ceremony on Monday, April 25. The overall winning team will receive $500 and winning teams from both schools will earn $250. Teams of students from both campuses will use data to predict the probability a vehicle that Allstate insures will have an accident claim. It’s completely free to participate in the challenge. Plus, who doesn’t want to earn bragging rights for their school?
 
So what if you’ve never hacked before? No worries, because we’ll have Allstate data scientists on-campus throughout the competition to offer tutorials and help answer questions you have. Start forming your teams of four or less students, read more information and RSVP on the competition website & come to the kickoff meeting April 11 at 6 p.m. in Jacobs Center Room G40.

Data Privacy and Cybersecurity in Business

Learn how data privacy and cybersecurity will affect you as a future business leader. Our guest speaker, Liisa Thomas, is the Chair of Global Privacy and Data Security atWinston & Strawn LLP and has spent the last 15 years focusing on the convergence of privacy and advertising laws. She assists clients-which include major consumer brands-with a variety of legal issues, including identifying and investigating data breach incidents, creating information protection and security programs, and navigating the complex legal world of online behavioral advertising. Ms. Thomas is also the author of "Thomas on Data Breach: A Practical Guide to Handling Worldwide Data Breach Notification," which is meant to help businesses understand breach notification requirements so they can have a clear plan in place before a breach occurs.
