Summer Associate – Job Description
Bridge Investments is looking to augment its team with a Summer Associate in 2016. Bridge is a Chicago-based hybrid Private Equity/Venture Capital firm focused on the lower middle market. We look for companies in the $0 to $5MM EBITDA range and will invest $1 to $10 million in a given transaction (smaller check sizes for some venture deals). Our industry focus includes tech-enabled services (software and SaaS), consumer products/ecommerce, healthcare services, niche manufacturing, and others. While we focus the majority of our time on private equity, we launched a small venture capital fund last year and have made investments in 13 different companies to date. The Summer Associate will work actively on all aspects of new and existing platform and venture investments, business development and market research.

Primary tasks will likely include the following:

• Taking a lead role in identifying and processing new investment opportunities, ranging from market assessment, to competitive positioning, to initial deal structuring and valuation, etc.; 
• Helping to lead diligence efforts on pursued deals; 
• Building robust, flexible financial models to support deal structuring efforts; 
• Working directly with current portfolio companies (evaluating strategic alternatives, determining key metrics, budgeting, special projects, etc.) 
• Researching particular niche industries of interest, drafting and helping to execute investment plans; 
• Contacting investment banks, brokers and other relevant agents to better inform them about Bridge and increase quality of deal flow; 
• Managing the deal pipeline; 
• Performing market and company research on particular geographies or sectors and contacting management teams in an effort to increase proprietary deal flow; and   
• Supporting the equity fundraising process. 

Candidate requirements:

• Prior private equity and/or investment banking, management consulting or commercial banking experience preferred 
• Experience managing deal processes or consulting projects preferred; 
• Financial modeling skills, comfort with accounting and very analytical; 
• Exceptional communication and people skills; 
• Highly entrepreneurial, business savvy, creative, high integrity, flexible, professional maturity; 
• Proven track record of leadership skills, and a strong desire to work closely with entrepreneurs; and 
• Bachelor’s degree and strong GPA from a leading college or university.

Pitch evaluator: Enzo D’Angelo ’09, Managing Partner, Tyree & D’Angelo Partners. Enzo co- founded the private equity firm which focuses on making control ownership investments in, and partners, with lower middle market businesses. Enzo brings almost 15 years of leading private equity investment and corporate finance experience. He previously worked at Norwest Equity Partners which managed $5 billion of investment capital from Minnesota, Wind Point Partners which managed $2 billion of investment capital from Illinois and Michigan, and American Securities which managed $2 billion of investment capital from New York. Prior to entering the private equity industry, Enzo focused on corporate finance merger & acquisition advisory and lending for private equity investments while at Credit Suisse investment banking in New York.
