Food companies have been under a lot of scrutiny lately due to several food safety scandals across the globe. Growing food needs and mounting economic pressure are also increasing the complexity of ensuring sustainability for big food companies in their supply chains. Today, consumers want to know what's in their food and where it comes from. Governments NGOs, and consumers also want to see more and more sustainable practices in food supply chains.

How are big corporations such as McDonald's dealing with these challenges? How are they ensuring transparency and traceability in their supply-chain? Please join us for an interactive discussion with Pete Richter, President, Global McDonald's Business Unit, Cargill - one of the top suppliers of McDonald's worldwide. Lunch from Pita Inn will be served.

Cargill and McDonald's: McDonald's and Cargill partner closely with each other around the globe on business goals, which for both companies includes a strong commitment to sustainability and community support. The relationship started back in the mid 80's with the introduction of eggs in the U.S. and chicken in Europe. Cargill today does business with McDonald's across 50+ of its business units and supplies them food ingredients, products and risk management solutions. Cargill has been recipient of several supplier excellence awards each year since 2000 including six Global Best of Sustainability Awards in 2014.

Pete Richter's bio: Pete has worked for Cargill for the last 27 years. He is currently the President of the Global McDonald's Business Unit. Prior to this he was the McDonald's Business Unit Vice President, Managing Director for Americas and APMEA. He was elected to the McDonald's Supplier Advisory Council in 2007 and elected Chairman in 2009 - a position which he still holds today. He is also the supplier representative for the McDonald's National Supplier Leadership Council.
