E. Scott Santi is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Illinois Tool Works Inc. Founded in 1912, ITW is a global industrial company centered on a highly differentiated proprietary business model. The company’s seven industry-leading segments leverage the ITW Business Model to generate solid growth with best-in-class margins and returns in markets where highly innovative, customer-focused solutions are required. ITW’s approximately 50,000 dedicated team members around the world thrive in the company’s decentralized, entrepreneurial culture. ITW’s revenues totaled $14.3 billion in 2017, with roughly half coming from outside North America. The company had a market capitalization of approximately $57 billion as of year-end 2017.

Mr. Santi joined ITW in 1983 and has spent his entire career with the company. He was elected Executive Vice President in 2004 and named Vice Chairman in 2008. He became the Company’s Chief Executive Officer in November of 2012 and was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2015. 

Mr. Santi graduated from the University of Illinois in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Accounting and received a Masters in Business Administration from the JL Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in 1994.

The Lavin Bernick Executive Chats series gives Kellogg students an opportunity to engage with an esteemed executive or civic leader presenting his or her perspectives on leadership. The sessions are meant to be dialogue-driven, and informal, with a limited number of seats available at each session. They provide an intimate forum for in-depth conversations. This session is open to full-time Kellogg students.
