Scott Kaplan
Scott Kaplan is the SVP of Global Sales and Distribution at Gravitas Ventures, a digitally-focused independent film distributor and sales agency. He oversees domestic and international licensing & sales for Gravitas' 300+ releases per year and library of over 2500 titles, while also focusing on corporate strategy, library sales and business development.
His expertise lies in sourcing and negotiating deals with Streaming Platforms, Television Networks and Film Distributors all over the world.
Recent releases he has led include the award-winning documentary IN SEARCH OF GREATNESS, Jim Carrey's DARK CRIMES, JK Simmons starrer I’M NOT HERE and Cuba Gooding Jr.’s BAYOU CAVIAR.
He also has licensed 25+ TV Series to Networks and streaming platforms including MY FIGHTING SEASON to National Geographic Channel, and Oliver Stone’s THE UNTOLD HISTORY OF THE US to Netflix.
He has represented and distributed thousands of works over the last decade including EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, LITTLE HOURS starring Dave Franco, Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie and Nick Offerman, SENNA, Vice Media’s ALL THIS MAYHEM and Jared Leto’s ARTIFACT.
Prior to starting the sales group for Gravitas, he ran sales at Gunpowder & Sky and previously FilmBuff, Kaplan earlier negotiated multichannel acquisition deals for DISH Network after working as an agent at ICM in Los Angeles. He holds an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a BA from The University of Pennsylvania.
