Description

Most executives report difficulty in giving feedback—and much attention (rightfully) is paid to this topic, as feedback is essential to top performance. Less discussed, and yet equally pervasive, is the fact that almost everyone struggles with receiving feedback with grace and with an orientation for learning, especially when it isn’t delivered skillfully. This session focuses on a) understanding what triggers and obstacles stand in the way of receiving feedback well; b) concrete strategies for managing these obstacles and extracting as much value as possible out of feedback. Among the questions considered: When should I listen to feedback? When must I filter it? How should I respond in the moment and then over time? This is a highly interactive session—participants will be asked to reflect on their own feedback experiences and to actively engage with their colleagues in the room.

Registration will open the week following Spring Break.

Brooke Vuckovic

Professor

Kellogg School of Management

Brooke Olson Vuckovic’s career has been focused on helping executives define their purpose and presence as leaders; stretching them to become more focused, non-reactive and clear on who they are, where they’re going, why they lead, and what the circumstances they face demand of them.

Dr. Vuckovic teaches leadership coaching to Kellogg’s full-time MBA students and has co-developed coaching programs for multiple Executive Education programs. She actively lectures and coaches in a number of programs offered through Kellogg’s Allen Center and the Center for Nonprofit Management. Outside of Kellogg, she works with senior executives and “high potentials” in a wide range of industries—from finance, consumer products, technology, law, education, management and technical consulting, government, and non-profit management.
