KIEI Commercialization Courses Info Session

Want to be an entrepreneur but do not have an idea? Learn about amazing technologies that can be commercialized. Come to an information session on two exciting winter quarter experiential courses: 

Medical Technology Financing and Commercialization – This course offers students an experiential learning opportunity to work directly in the commercialization process for innovative, pre-commercial medical technology companies. Students will be placed on three- to four-member teams based on their skills, experience and interests. Each team will function as consultants working with select Northwestern or Chicago-based tech transfer companies curated by Northwestern’s INVO (Innovation and New Ventures Office) or Chicago's PROPEL or MATTER medtech incubator. Insights from this hands-on course will prove most beneficial to students interested in entrepreneurship, product design, intellectual property, early-stage financing, venture capital and medical product marketing.

Commercializing Innovations – Makers, Materials & Machines – This new course offers students a chance to develop commercial opportunities for new, unique Northwestern University technologies, innovations and inventions in 3D-printing, batteries, robotics, brain-machine interface, and other areas. The course will be most beneficial to students interested in entrepreneurship, business design, business strategy consulting and commercialization. The objective is to develop a business project to the point of potential commercial launch. Each four- to five-member cross-disciplinary team will function as a business development team for potential businesses selected by Northwestern’s INVO (Innovation and New Ventures Office). Students will identify their top three choices of projects from descriptions provided prior to the first day of class, when team-matching assignments will be made.
