Please join KIEI and KACI for a unique opportunity to tour Argonne National Laboratory, a science and engineering research national laboratory operated by the University of Chicago Argonne LLC for the United States Department of Energy. It is the largest national laboratory by size and scope in the Midwest.

The tour will include a lunch presentation by Argonne's Technology Commercialization and Partnerships (TCP) office about TCP's role in helping to license technology developed at Argonne, as well as visits to the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) and the Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF)

ALCF is a national scientific user facility that provides supercomputing resources and expertise to the scientific and engineering community to accelerate the pace of discovery and innovation in a broad range of disciplines. This includes a cutting edge data visualization facility. Current ALCF Projects

MERF is where the production of new materials for batteries and beyond are scaled up. Scaling up materials production is a common step in the commercialization process that can bring surprises – some that halt the commercialization process.

Transportation and lunch will be provided.  Please plan to meet at the front entrance of the Kellogg Global Hub at 10:00AM, and return to campus by 4:00PM.
