Translating Data and Creating Value presented by Allison Weil and Ellen Houston, Civis Analytics
In today's environment, clients understand that there is value to be found in their data. Unfortunately, decision makers don't always speak the same language as those closest to the data. In this presentation, you'll learn how to better understand and communicate the work of technical teams to advocate for and communicate the value of advanced analytics.
Allison Weil is a Business Development Manager at Civis Analytics, responsible for identifying and scoping new opportunities, as well as identifying growth strategies for Civis. She has an MBA and Master's in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and while in school founded a company that used data science to identify police officers at risk of adverse incidents.
Ellen Houston is an Applied Data Science Manager at Civis Analytics, responsible for bringing data science solutions to clients on a day-to-day basis. Since joining Civis, she has helped several clients use data to improve their ability to understand, target, and acquire customers. She received her MBA from Kellogg in 2015.
Civis Analytics maintains a consumer database of 250 million American adults comprised of hundreds of descriptive data elements you can use to better understand your current customers, employees, members, donors, etc....and then identify high-value prospects. The Civis National Consumer Database aggregates data from public sources, commercial data vendors, and models developed by our data scientists into one unified, cleaned, and easy-to-use data file, enabling hassle-free predictive modeling.
Civis' social scientists are constantly running surveys to help our data scientists build and append models to accurately predict demographic variables, consumer intelligence, and purchasing habits, allowing you to get a complete picture of the audience you care about—even when some data is missing. Beyond developing targets in our database, we then build models based on consumer behavior and attitudes, including media preferences and purchasing habits for thousands of products and services in hundreds of categories.
