Federico Palomera
Mr. Federico Palomera assumed the position of Consul General of Spain in Chicago on August 9th, 2016.
Prior to the present appointment, Mr. Palomera was Secretary General of the Spanish National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (2014-2016) and Ambassador of Spain to Singapore (2010-2014).
Mr. Federico Palomera was born in Madrid, on November 20, 1951.
He received a law degree from the Complutense University in Madrid and joined the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979.
He has been posted to Lebanon, Morocco, Thailand, Egypt, Costa Rica and the United States. He was Deputy Director General for Scientific Relations and Deputy Director General for Scientific and Cultural Programs and Conventions, and Director of Economic Relations with Africa and the Middle East.
In 2000 he was appointed Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Spain in Tunisia, and later on Consul General of Spain in Melbourne. He was also Consul General of Spain in Edinburgh (2006-2010).
