Learn from Darryl Cobb (KSM '00), Partner at Charter School Growth Fund, as he discusses how he identifies, funds, and measures the impact of philanthropic investments in high-performing charter school networks.
Charter School Growth Fund (CSGF) is a leading nonprofit venture philanthropy fund dedicated to identifying the nation's best public charter schools, funding their expansion, and helping to increase their impact. Their "portfolio" of charter school networks includes 50+ organizations that operate 500+ schools and serve more than 250,000 students. CGSF operates with the same strategies, discipline, and focus as a venture capital firm by awarding multiÔÇÉyear grants to talented education entrepreneurs building networks of highÔÇÉquality charter schools that enroll traditionally underserved students. CGSF plans to embark on a third national fund in 2016, which will help them to double the number of students served by helping launch 600 new great public charter schools by 2020. Ultimately, CSGF thinks their portfolio can grow to serve ~1,000,000 students within a decade.
