Join the Education Industry Class from 7-8 pm to hear Jonathan Furr, Executive Director of the Education Systems Center at Northern Illinois University, discuss designing education policy. (Please note that this is part of a regularly scheduled class, so be respectful when attending; fill in empty seats; and allow enrolled students to ask questions first.)

Jonathan Furr is the Executive Director of Education Systems Center at Northern Illinois University. He is actively engaged in various state, national, and international education policy efforts. Mr. Furr has led the development of federal competitive grant applications that have secured over $120 million in funding for data systems, K-12 reforms, early childhood system development, and apprenticeship programs. He has served as the lead drafter and negotiator for legislation significantly impacting the Illinois education system, including the 2009 Illinois P-20 Longitudinal Education Data System Act and Senate Bill 7, the 2011 legislation tying critical school district human capital decisions to performance. Mr. Furr has also structured and administered numerous interagency programs, including the state's longitudinal data system governing board and interagency systems for career pathway programs. Prior to founding Education Systems Center, Mr. Furr was a partner in the public policy and education practice of an international law firm. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Furr served as the General Counsel for the Illinois State Board of Education.
