Join the BMA and HMA, in partnership with the Office of Student Life, for a presentation that explores healthy masculinit(ies) in the context of business leadership and personal development. In this presentation, we will explore the concepts of “Expansive” and “Restrictive” masculinities and their impact on fostering inclusive and collaborative relationships with others. This program will review previous and current frameworks of masculinity to help us examine how a more comprehensive and pro-social understanding of masculinities helps individuals of all backgrounds and identities contribute to more equitable and inclusive personal and professional communities. This presentation will ask participants to critically reflect on their relationship with masculinity and how they’ve individually and collectively experienced its impact in their lives at Kellogg and beyond. We will then chart a path forward for engaging with expansive masculinity in our lives by drawing on historical insights from everything from industrial-organizational psychology and related disciplines to the Harlem Renaissance and intersectional-feminism.

Key Topics
Defining Healthy Masculinit(ies): Understanding the Intersections of Masculinity, Gender, Race, and Power
Emotional and Social Intelligence and their Roles in Effective Collaboration
Nurturing Inclusivity: Breaking Stereotypes in Business and Other Disciples
