THANKS TO OUR DAK VOLUNTEERS! By all accounts, this past weekend's DAK was a great success and we couldn't have done it without the help of so many of you! Admissions, the Deans and MarComm said it was the best DAK weekend in their memory. But more importantly, the signifcant others of the accepted applicants enjoyed themselves and felt welcomed by the Kellogg community. One attendee wrote to say:
We can't thank our volunteers enough for all of their time and effort. A special thanks goes out to our DAK Chair, Danielle Himmelman, who worked tirelessly to coordinate volunteers, prepare materials and power point presentations. And of course, to Wendy Metter who met with over 20 attendees to discuss career options. If you'd like to volunteer for DAK 2 (April 24th-27th) please email daniellehimmelman@gmail.com. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Join us at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Downtown Chicago on Tuesday, February 18th for the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Contact Hanna at hannarosie@gmail.com to claim one of few remaining tickets. RUNNING WITH THE BULLS What is more exciting than going with 300 of your closest Kellogg friends to a Chicago Bulls game?
Going with 300 of your Kellogg friends to see Kellogg play Chicago Booth at the United Center, then watching the Bulls play, and finishing it off with an awesome after-party!!!
Running with the Bulls is a can’t-miss event where you and your classmates have the opportunity to live out your inner Space Jam dreams. This year, the event will take place the evening of Wednesday, February 26.
How do I Sign up?
Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday at 12:05pm CST. Follow the CampusGroups link for ticket sales.
What is Running with the Bulls?
2 teams, 1 game, 0 excuses.
Watch Kellogg’s basketball team take on Chicago Booth on the United Center court. After the Kellogg/Booth game, the Chicago Bulls tip off at 7pm against the Golden State Warriors. There will be a joint Kellogg & Booth after-party in River North with drink specials, and bus transportation will be provided to and from McManus, the game, and the after-party.
How much does it cost?
This year, we are offering two ticket options:
-Game + Bus ticket: costs $60 -- includes a game ticket, busses to/from the game, and to/from the after-party
-Bus ONLY ticket will cost $10 -- for those who cannot go to the game but don’t want to miss out on the amazing after-party, this will include bus transportation between Evanston and the after-party location
Note that KSA is subsidizing the Bulls game ticket price, so don’t miss out!
JV BOOK CLUB Did you know that there is a JV Book Club? Last month we had a great discussion about Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, which focuses on encouraging women to pursue their ambitions, and changing the conversation from what we can’t do to what we can do in the business world. The next book we will be discussing is The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom, about a young Irish immigrant being brought up by slaves in a plantation house. Buy the book here. We'll be meeting on March 5th at 7pm. Please email Dena Margolis for details on the location.dena.margolis@gmail.com MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Lady JVs, As first year JVs, would you like to learn from Kellogg second year JV women with similar personal and/or professional interests? As wise second year JVs, would you like to share your experiences at Kellogg with first year and 1Y JV women with similar personal and/or professional interests? Are you interested in connecting with other JV women at Kellogg in a fun and informal setting? The WBA mentorship program pairs second year women with first years and 1Ys who have similar professional and/or personal interests. As first-year directors of the WBA Mentorship committee, we would now love to extend the program to our JV community. This program helps to build relationships between women in the Kellogg community, and also gives first year and 1Y JVs a chance to learn from the experiences of second year JVs and receive advice about navigating Evanston, job opportunities, fun and social activities, etc. If you are interested in participating, please let us know so we can send you a brief enrollment survey next week. This survey will help us to understand your interests and what you are seeking to get out of the program, in order to pair women as effectively as possible. We hope that you will all consider getting involved in this fun and beneficial program! Please direct any questions to Diya Jakkidi atnjakkidi2015@kellogg. Thank you and happy 2014, WBA Mentorship Committee |
