Breaking Boundaries: Differentiation in Private Equity and Venture Capital Markets

The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University is proud to present the 2016 Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference — “Breaking Boundaries: Differentiation in Competitive Private Equity and Venture Capital Markets”.  Even by the standards of the intensely competitive market for private equity and venture capital, today’s market environment is particularly challenging. With deal valuations approaching record highs, strategy differentiation has become critical. An abundance of “dry powder” and an influx of new alternative capital providers has led firms to specialize within both industry verticals and investment themes where expertise can drive returns.

The 2016 Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference will address opportunities and challenges in the rapidly-changing industries of healthcare, energy, and technology, and evaluate alternative capital providers such as search funds and celebrity venture capitalists, among many other dynamic topics. Drawing on the insights of some of the market’s leading investors, portfolio company executives and industry consultants, the Conference will tackle some of the most pressing issues affecting today’s investing climate.
The 2016 conference is proud to feature Stephen G Woodsum, Co-Founder of Summit Partners as the conference keynote speaker. Our keynote, as well as panel discussions, will cover topics including:

  • The Emergence of Search Funds in Middle Market Private Equity
  • Responding to the Unexpected: Redefining Strategy Post Investment
  • The Diversification of Venture Capital
  • Venture Capital Specialization
  • The Future of Investing in Energy
  • Investing in the Highly-Regulated and Rapidly Evolving World of Healthcare

This forum will also offer an invaluable opportunity for professionals, academics, students and alumni to explore the challenging issues surrounding private equity and venture capital, as well as to network with other industry professionals.
