Come hear about post-MBA career life through the experiences and career journeys of Kellogg alumni and professors focusing specifically on:

• Career navigation advice and post-MBA options (enhance role in current field or pivot to a new industry)

Mats studied business at the University of Washington, and joined Teach for America in Miami immediately after graduation. After teaching middle school social studies for two years, he was promoted to supervise social studies (and later, ELA) across the lowest performing schools in the County, which lasted for three years. Mats moved to Chicago in 2016 to pursue a full-time MBA at Kellogg, and started as consultant at EY-Parthenon last fall, with a goal of contributing to the Education Practice.


Mats is getting married in August to Anna, who taught down the hall from Mats in Miami and is now a consultant at Civic Consulting Alliance.

Michelle is a senior associate at KPMG Strategy based out of Chicago. She joined KPMG in Summer 2018 after graduating from Kellogg’s E&W program. At KPMG, Michelle has worked on projects in both M&A and Corporate Strategy with a majority of the projects being in the Consumer & Retail and Technology industries. Prior to joining KPMG, Michelle worked at fairlife (a dairy company partially owned by Coca-Cola), US Foods, and IRI.

Bain & Company

Cheryl is a consultant in the Chicago office of Bain & Company. She joined the firm in 2018, and has worked mostly in telecom, insurance, and the private equity group. Her work has largely focused on M&A, customer experience strategy, and diligence.

Prior to joining Bain, Cheryl worked as the Director of Strategy at Regal Beloit Corporation. She earned an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, and also holds a Master in Finance degree from MIT and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Beloit College.

In her free time, Cheryl enjoys exploring new restaurants and bars in Chicago, watching astrophysics documentary, and going to sports games just for the crowd!

Alex joined the McKinsey Implementation practice as an associate in May 2018. Prior to McKinsey Alex was a submarine officer in the US Navy for 8 ½ years. During his final 2 years of the Navy, Alex was a student in Kellogg’s Evening & Weekend Program.

Alex currently lives in Chicago.

Elmer Almachar

Senior Director, Strategy and Innovation, Working Professionals

Almachar taught at both the University of California in San Diego and East-West University in Chicago. Most recently, he served as the team leader for McKinsey & Co.'s U.S. Design Center, where he led a team of 24 designers responsible for delivering more than 4,000 projects annually to Fortune 100, public sector and large nonprofit clients.

A graduate of Kellogg's Part-Time MBA Program, Almachar holds a bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and a master's degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He has also completed PhD coursework and field studies in political science at the University of California in San Diego.
